DISC HERNIA: a tear in one or more intervertebral discs causing the release of the chemical content that comes into contact with the nervous tissue; it requires surgical intervention.

INGUINAL HERNIA: the protrusion of part of the intestine through the abdominal wall, in most cases it occurs in the groin; it may be caused by weak abdominal muscles, it causes pain and can be repaired by surgery.

OSTEOPOROSIS: extremely unlikely to be present in young people, it mostly affects women and causes a weakening of the bones making them more fragile and increasing the risk of fracture.

HEART CONDITIONS: it is recommended that people undertake a sports physical examination before they start practising bungee fly. Still, trainers must constantly monitor their students and assess the physical and cardiopulmonary stress to which they are subjected.

PULMONARY INSUFFICIENCY: the trainer must be aware that this sport requires the sustained exertion of the respiratory system and must be able to evaluate the ability of the students.

DISC PROTRUSION: it’s the compression of an intervertebral disc, it causes bulging, pain and problems with movement.

LESIONS IN THE LIGAMENTS OF THE HIP AND THE LOWER LIMB: if a student has a chronic inflammation of knees, ankles or hips, they should immediately stop the training but may still carry out light bungee fly exercises, thanks to the elastic cord, after consultation with a doctor.

SHOULDER INSTABILITY: if a student has ligamentous laxity at shoulder level, they should do exercises to strengthen their muscles before starting to practise bungee fly.

OBESITY: this particular condition precludes people from practising bungee fly; the strength of the elastic cord could not be enough to guarantee the required level of safety for the individual and the others; also, the high exertion required to train could lead to excessive strain on a person who is very overweight; instead, those who are just a little overweight may find that the partial suspension offered by the elastic effect is a great way to practise, taking some of the body weight off the ligaments of the lower limbs.
